Making a shaker

My instrument is as silver as a river when the sun is shining.  I like it because it is as colourful as a rainbow and it makes a big sound.  If you make a chime you might not get a good sound.  It will make a quiet sound so you might need a big metal thing like a spoon.

My instrument is a shaker. The shaker makes a big sound.  The sound it makes is very loud like jumping beans jumping on a hill or like popcorn in a pot. If you make a guitar you will use fishing line but it is best to use rubber bands because fishing line is loose.

I made a shaker because I thought it would be easy.

Mastagard Recycle Centre Visit

Room 2 visit to Mastagard

Thanks to the staff at Ashburton Mastagard!

We went to Mastagard to look at all the stuff.  I heard the bottles smashing.  There were big machines and lots of tubs and lots of rubbish.  I had great day.  The seat was made out of straw and concrete.

 By Jivarn

Room 2 all raced to the bus to go to Ashburton and we
went to Mastagard. We saw a sofa and we smelt milk.  The
loader squashed the milk bottle broke, the milk came out!
The bus came with the rubbish in it, claws crushing.
We went to school again, it was fun.

 By Logan

I woke up at 6:00.  Then I am going on the bus, we are at school.  I almost forgot, we are going to Mastagard.  We are in Ashburton - yay!  We are going to the playground.  I went in the mouse hole and it was as swirly whirly like a wind.  Then we went to Mastagard and I heard machines crashing and crunching.  It was as noisy as waves crashing at the beach.
 By George

We played on the mouse wheel and a big blue climbing thing and on the monkey bars and on a swing.  Solomon fell off the blue climbing thing.  In the shop there were lots of great things like knitting needles and they all come from recycling.

We all went to Mastagard and I saw big forklifts and bottles and old computers and printers.  I heard glass smashing against the hard hard barrel made out of wood.  I also saw big machines that crashed recycle stuff and tied up the cardboard and plastic.  The forklifts lifted the plastic and the cardboard.  We all got a picture when we got to school.  I am looking down at at the stones in the picture, it was funny.

We went to Mastagard and we saw the crusher.  We heard thumps, bangs and booms.  Just before we went back to school we sat on the straw couch.

 By Alana

I saw glass falling like rain.  Brent showed us the chairs. Brent said “ What do you think the chair is made of?”
Daniel said “straw” and he got the answer right.

 By Solomon

Wahoo! Room Two get to go to Matsagard.  We are learning about packaging, so we decided to go.  I wish you could go too.  Some people from Mastagard took us around.  I could hear the glass smashing, I could see the loader picking up all the rubbish.  Before we went to Mastagard we went to the Ashburton domain.  The photo on the front is Miss taylor, she is on a crazy swing.  She looks red in her face, doesn’t she? and smiley!  Some people went in the mouse house, that was very noisy and lots of people screamed
“ahh!”

By Arabella

“Beep, beep, beep” the bus dumps the cans, bottles and cardboard into groups and they told us to move out of the way as they tip the plastic over to other boxes.  The glass was smashing.  It was fun.  I saw the bus dropping down the recycle stuff.

 By Grady

Thanks to the mums who came to help! :)

The loader was really noisy, that was cool and it was pushing the rubbish.   We had a great day today and I heard the bus at Mastagard at Ashburton.  I was with my class and I was far away from school.

We went to Mastagard early in the morning.  First we went to the park and we had lots of fun a the play ground and after that we went to Mastagard and I heard a forklift and saw a forklift.

 By Daniel

In the morning Room Two went to Mastagard.  We saw a bus full of yucky stuff.  Then we saw glass bottles.  They were so loud, it went “boom, boom!” like a gun shooting a deer.
